Music and Repertoire

My music mix is deliberately not rigid. It’s highly individual — the song selection adapts dynamically to the vibe, the occasion and the audience, for absolute flexibility at the highest level, instead of an off-the-shelf set.

Music & Repertoire – DJ Jonas

Principle

Reading the room, not just playing tracks

The music mix is highly individual — not a fixed set repeated from event to event, but a selection that adapts in real time to the vibe, the occasion and the audience. After more than 1,000 events, a set doesn’t come together at a desk beforehand — it comes together in the room.

How many guests are up and about? Where are they standing? Who’s heading for the bar, who’s drifting toward the dance floor? How does the crowd react to the first chorus everyone recognises? The next track grows out of those signals — and that’s the difference you can actually hear on the night: absolute flexibility at the highest level, not a template laid over every event.

That’s why a playlist scripted down to the last song is the single most common cause of an empty dance floor: it removes every chance to react dynamically to the audience in front of you.

Phases

Every phase has its own sound

Phase 01

Reception & arrival

Warm, open, at conversation volume. Lounge, organic house, nu disco, soul. Guests should arrive gently, not get ambushed.

Phase 02

Dinner

Ambient music, deliberately kept in the background. The conversations remain the main sound in the room. Downbeat, jazz-house, quiet classics.

Phase 03

Official programme

Music as a frame for speeches, honours and video inserts — applause beds, intros, cleanly faded transitions.

Phase 04

The turning point

The most important moment of the evening: tracks that pull people up from the table without anyone feeling like the first one exposed on the floor.

Phase 05

Party

Mixed across generations — short, frequent changes rather than long blocks, so nobody stands at the edge for twenty minutes.

Phase 06

Peak & finale

The tracks guests will still remember. On request with a saxophonist as a live moment. Then a finish that actually sounds like a finish.

Repertoire

  • House, deep house, organic house, melodic house
  • Nu disco, disco, funk, soul, Motown
  • Current charts and radio hits
  • 80s, 90s and 2000s
  • Hip-hop, R&B, Afrobeats

  • Latin, reggaeton, Balkan
  • German party classics and Schlager (by arrangement)
  • Lounge, downbeat, jazz-house for quieter phases
  • Multilingual sets for international workforces

Your preferences

Wish list and do-not-play list

10 to 25 requested songs is the sweet spot — plus a clear do-not-play list.

The do-not-play list is arguably even more important than the wish list. It heads off the mistakes you only notice afterwards: the song leadership doesn’t want to hear, the track that has a history within the team, the genre that clears half the room.

For corporate events, the selection can be agreed in advance as a reference playlist and signed off by your marketing team — particularly useful for product launches and brand events, where music is part of the campaign’s tone of voice.

Guest requests are taken into account on the night when they fit the moment and aren’t on your do-not-play list. Whether a track gets played always comes down to one question: does it help the dance floor right now.
