Christmas Party

DJ for Your Christmas Party

The evening people are still talking about in January. Music, sound, lighting and the right moment for the management’s speech – all from a single source.

Christmas Party – DJ Jonas

Briefly answered

When should you book a DJ for a company Christmas party?

As early as possible – specifically, 6 to 9 months in advance. The Fridays and Saturdays between November 28 and December 20 form the tightest booking window of the year in the event industry.

Many of these dates are already taken by spring. Anyone inquiring in September is no longer choosing between providers, but taking whatever is left. If your date isn’t fixed yet: request two or three possible dates at once – that considerably improves your chances of landing your preferred provider.

The Arc of the Evening

The Christmas party is the most honest date on the corporate calendar

It’s the one evening of the year when departments genuinely talk to each other. No meeting room, no agenda – sales sits next to accounting, and management stands at the cocktail table. That’s exactly why it’s so frustrating when the evening falls flat because of the music.

  1. Arrival & WelcomeCalm, warm music at conversation volume. Guests should settle in, not be caught off guard.
  2. DinnerAmbient and lounge sound, deliberately understated. The sound of conversation stays the room’s main sound.
  3. Formal ProgrammeSpeech, year in review, honours, anniversaries. Redundant wireless mics, a soundcheck with every speaker, video cues on point.
  4. The TransitionThe most important moment of the evening: music that draws people from the table without anyone feeling like the first one out there.
  5. PartyCross-generational: 80s and 90s, current charts, German classics, funk and disco – mixed so the dance floor never empties in between.
  6. Peak & FinaleOn request with a saxophonist as a live highlight. Then an ending that actually sounds like one.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does the DJ play at a Christmas party?
Standard is until 2 a.m., including accompaniment starting from dinner. An extension is possible by the hour and stated in the quote. Shorter formats – say, a Christmas reception from 6 to 10 p.m. – are just as easy to plan.
Do I need to provide a music list?
No. Five to ten requested tracks are helpful, and – even more important – your explicit no-gos. Everything else is shaped on the night based on how your guests respond.
Will Christmas music be played?
Only as much as you’d like. A few tasteful classics at the reception set the tone – but experience shows the party portion works noticeably better without Christmas music.
Can the Christmas party be held outdoors?
Yes – in dry weather and by arrangement. For winter open-air formats, battery-powered sound and lighting solutions are available, even without a power connection.
How many guests can be accommodated?
From a department celebration with 50 people to a staff party with 5,000 guests. The system is designed each time around the room, acoustics and guest count.
